What I Do

Mimicry is here to uplift the beautiful in every corner of your life, and to celebrate its power. I write content and copy for cultural events and for the arts.  I specialize in covering cultural events like dances, art shows, plays, films, and music. Whether that’s writing a guest article about a dance festival, introducing a promising artist to the world, writing copy for businesses in the arts industries, or upholding the culture of Western Alaska in my Alaskan hometown, I look to highlight the beauty in our every day lives.  I strive to uplift the voices of artists, especially here in my home of Western Alaska.  I consider writing a piece on any beauty, (in art, nature, culture, education, or service),  to fall under my mission of highlighting and uplifting beauty everywhere.

My promise

I pledge to give you words that showcase the beauty in your event or product.  I pledge to give you words that treat your performance, your art, or your cultural event as the important thing it is.  I pledge my words to uphold the life-changing strength of beauty everywhere.

My philosophy

I believe in beauty. I believe that beauty belongs in every corner of our lives, and has a lot of power to make our lives better.  I believe the beautiful things in our lives deserve recognition and celebration for the good they can do for us.  At Mimicry, my goal is to celebrate the beautiful things in life: art, nature, cultures, education, or the beauty in a wonderful person’s actions.  Here at Mimicry, my goal is to write about your cultural and artistic events with an eye to the beauty in them. I want my words to celebrate the beautiful things found in your world, and to celebrate them as the powerful forces for good they are.  Whether I’m writing you a product description for your Etsy art, highlighting an inspiring biography in your newsletter, guest posting a movie review, or covering a local celebration of culture, I want my words to see the beauty that’s intrinsic in your event and to celebrate it.  I want my words to show why the beauty you’re creating is so important to the world.  Aristotle called beauty in art a mimicry of beauty in nature.  From my beautiful home in Nome Alaska, at the top of the world, I can definitely see how the beautiful in art mimics the beautiful in life.  And inspired by the ravens flying all around my town, mimicking the sounds they hear, I am proud to use my words to mimic the beauty I see and to present you with MIMICRY BY MIM.
